The United Arab Emirates is accelerating the development of its smart mobility and autonomous transport ecosystem across Dubai and Abu Dhabi, according to a report by the Emirates News Agency (WAM).
In Dubai, operational infrastructure expanded following the inauguration of Chinese technology firm Baidu's Apollo Go Autonomous Vehicles Operations and Control Centre. Spanning 2,000 square metres, the facility houses fleet management, vehicle maintenance, charging stations, software upgrades, safety testing, simulation, and operational training.
According to the report, Dubai's robotaxis have completed over 4 million kilometres and 7,613 passenger trips. Operating with an active fleet of 48 vehicles, the service has recorded a 97 percent customer satisfaction rating.
Concurrently, Abu Dhabi is progressing its autonomous vehicle testing through the Abu Dhabi Autonomous Vehicle Test Hub and is rolling out dedicated commercial trial licence plates.
