According to Time Out Dubai, authorities in Dubai and the wider UAE have enacted eight major visa and residency changes affecting tourists, investors, and expatriate residents in 2026.
Under entry visa revisions, eligible passport holders from India, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Kenya, and South Africa can obtain visas on arrival for stays of 14, 28, or 60 days if they hold valid residence permits from countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, or European Union member states. Additionally, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) now processes 30-day and 60-day single-entry tourist visas in as little as 48 working hours through airlines, licensed agencies, and hotel partners.
For property investors, the Dubai Land Department has eliminated the previous Dhs750,000 minimum valuation requirement for sole purchasers applying for the two-year property owner visa, while establishing a Dhs400,000 per-investor floor for jointly owned assets. On long-term residency, 10-year Golden Visa holders now receive consular assistance abroad from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and qualification has expanded to Waqf donors, educators, healthcare workers, influencers, and gaming professionals.
At the federal level, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has introduced dedicated visit visas for specialists in artificial intelligence, entertainment, and events, alongside maritime entry options. Meanwhile, Dubai immigration systems have been linked with Dubai Police databases, requiring residents to clear outstanding traffic fines before completing residency renewals. The unified six-nation "GCC Grand Tours" tourist visa remains in development without an active rollout date announced in 2026.
