The United Arab Emirates has secured seventh place globally in the 2026 Rumavi Global Relocation Index for digital nomads, according to a report published by Aviation A2Z citing rankings disclosed by Time Out.

The 2026 index evaluated 192 countries across multiple metrics, including digital infrastructure, cost of living, treatment of overseas income, safety, overall quality of life, and the ability to legally reside and work remotely. Malaysia took the top spot globally, followed by Portugal, Thailand, Georgia, Taiwan, and Estonia, with the UAE ranking seventh ahead of Spain, Croatia, and Lithuania.

Dubai was highlighted by the publication as the UAE's principal magnet for digital nomads and international professionals, underpinned by modern infrastructure, extensive air connections, luxury accommodation, coworking facilities, and international business activity.

Aviation A2Z noted that the UAE provides a dedicated remote-work residence route allowing qualifying individuals employed by overseas organisations to live legally in the country. The publication cited current guidance indicating a minimum monthly income requirement of US$3,500 for the UAE remote-work visa.
