The UAE Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has detailed an updated phased enforcement procedure targeting employers who fail to pay worker salaries on time under the Wage Protection System (WPS), according to Gulf News.

Under the updated mechanism, electronic monitoring identifies wage delays and automatically issues alerts to non-compliant establishments before formal administrative sanctions are enforced. MoHRE stated that the policy does not introduce new obligations for employers, but rather refines compliance monitoring across the market.

The ministry highlighted that monitoring prioritises higher-risk sectors, specifically construction, transportation, security, and cleaning services.

MoHRE reported that the UAE's Wage Protection System currently monitors and processes over Dh37 billion in monthly wage disbursements across the private sector.
