Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi called for deeper regional integration across energy, trade, and digital transport infrastructure during a symposium organized alongside the UNDP in New York, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Albudaiwi stated that shifts in global supply lines and emerging technologies are rapidly restructuring commercial corridors connecting the Gulf to Asian markets. He noted that GCC states collectively produce roughly 16.6 million barrels of crude oil per day, representing 22.2 percent of global crude oil production.
He emphasized that energy exports alone cannot secure long-term economic stability without integrated infrastructure, digital logistics, and institutional connectivity. Albudaiwi highlighted cross-border initiatives, including the GCC Interconnection Grid, as proven mechanisms to enhance supply-chain resilience and foster multilateral investment partnerships.
