On November 2, 2026, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Corporation (ADNOC) announced a cooperation agreement with OpenAI to deploy Frontier, an advanced artificial intelligence platform, Lao Dong reported. ADNOC expects to become the first energy company globally to implement the platform across its operations.

The announcement took place during OpenAI Chief Executive Officer Sam Altman's attendance at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC). The partnership also includes UAE-based artificial intelligence firm G42, chaired by Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

According to ADNOC, OpenAI's technology will evaluate oil reserves while underground using data from thousands of wells, aquifers, and extraction facilities. The platform will also model supply and demand, oil prices, profit margins, and optimize field development plans to support commercial decisions. Financial details were not disclosed.

The partnership follows broader regional investments in AI integration within the energy sector. In Saudi Arabia, Aramco announced plans on November 1 to acquire a 49 percent stake in government-backed AI firm Humain, following 2025 approvals by the United States permitting Nvidia advanced chip exports to both Gulf nations.
