Abu Dhabi Issues 65 Emirati Hospitality Standards for Mandatory Hotel Compliance by 2027

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi introduced the Emirati Hospitality Standards on September 25, 2026, establishing 65 measurable operating rules for local hospitality businesses. Developed alongside the National Projects Office, the standards aim to institutionalize cultural heritage compliance across Abu Dhabi's commercial tourism sector.

According to the announcement, the framework will see mandatory implementation across all hotels and serviced apartments starting in early 2027. The regulations structure operational compliance across eight distinct stages of guest service.

Under the new rules, accommodation operators must share cultural guidelines with guests prior to arrival and designate reception personnel to wear Emirati national dress. Furthermore, guest-facing and dining staff are required to undergo training to explain at least three traditional local dishes, including harees and balaleet.
