Research conducted by enterprise automation and orchestration company Camunda indicates that 78 per cent of business leaders believe core business processes must be fundamentally redesigned rather than merely augmented with artificial intelligence to maintain competitiveness, according to a report by Gulf News.

In an exclusive interview with the publication, Stefan Vaerenbergh-Dubois, Camunda's Vice President for Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America, stated that the UAE has shifted from testing AI to practical implementation. He noted that organisations face the challenge of rethinking how work moves across departments instead of applying AI tools directly to outdated, manual workflows designed around sequential human approvals.

The research further found that 82 per cent of surveyed organisations expect the process of adapting their most important workflows for AI to take up to five years. Vaerenbergh-Dubois warned that merely increasing spending on AI technology will not resolve structural workflow inefficiencies.

Camunda is expanding its regional presence in the UAE to assist public and private sector organisations in orchestrating AI integration within customer service and internal operations, while maintaining human oversight. The company is also developing ProcessOS, a system designed to help enterprises evaluate existing workflows and identify operational improvements.
