In an interview published by Gulf Business, Transcorp founder Rodrigue Nacouzi detailed operational lessons and new investment directions in the UAE logistics and technology landscape following the 2025 acquisition of Transcorp by Green Dome Investments. Nacouzi noted that business growth in temperature-controlled logistics imposes heavy commitments on infrastructure, working capital, and operational systems well before generating returns, making detailed profitability tracking by customer, route, and facility essential.
Addressing the quick-commerce sector, Nacouzi argued that speed alone does not guarantee a sustainable business model. He stated that viable operations depend on precise unit economics—including basket size, product margin, order weight, picking productivity, delivery distance, and wastage—rather than chasing market share through discounts and excess capacity. According to Nacouzi, delivery speed must be the byproduct of sound network design where inventory is strategically positioned near consumer demand.
Regarding warehouse automation, Nacouzi identified a strong commercial case for selective technology adoption in compact urban dark stores. He highlighted light-guided picking, wearable scanners, route replenishment coordination software, and compact robotic storage as tools that enhance picking speed and accuracy within existing footprints without adding spatial constraints.
Discussing digital tools, Nacouzi explained that artificial intelligence can assist operators by testing rental increase scenarios, analyzing competitor proximity, and mapping demand patterns for location decisions, while human judgment remains vital for contract negotiations and local conditions. Through his investment vehicle Enablers Ventures, Nacouzi confirmed the completion of six partnerships in the UAE over the past eight months, focusing on logistics software, quick-commerce models, automation, and decision intelligence.
