UAE Urges Stronger Judicial Cooperation at UN Crime Congress in Abu Dhabi

The United Arab Emirates has called for stronger international judicial cooperation to address the growing threats posed by organised, cyber, financial, and environmental crimes, Gulf News reported. The statement was made as Abu Dhabi convened the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.

Mubarak Al Neyadi, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Justice, stated that the Congress takes place at a time when criminal activities are increasingly transcending national borders and linking directly to rapid technological transformation. He underlined the necessity of proactive and resilient justice systems founded on trust, swift response times, evidence and data sharing, and ongoing capacity-building.

Al Neyadi noted that the Congress offers an opportunity to translate shared international resolve into concrete measures that strengthen the responsiveness and effectiveness of criminal justice institutions. Developing international consensus is expected to support the formation of responsive policies and legislation at both regional and global levels.

A primary milestone of the event is the adoption of the Abu Dhabi Declaration, which the UAE considers the foundation for a new operational phase focused on implementation, monitoring, and impact assessment. Al Neyadi affirmed that the UAE will actively support cross-border judicial partnerships and the exchange of best practices over the next five years.
