UAE Urges Stronger Judicial Cooperation at UN Crime Congress in Abu Dhabi

The UAE has called for enhanced international judicial cooperation to address cross-border organised, cyber, financial, and environmental crimes during the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice in Abu Dhabi. Mubarak Al Neyadi, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Justice, emphasised the need for resilient justice systems supported by information sharing and capacity-building. A key outcome of the gathering is the adoption of the Abu Dhabi Declaration, establishing a five-year roadmap for international legal partnerships.

UAE Outlines Expansion of International Judicial Cooperation and Cross-Border Legal Agreements

UAE Minister of Justice Abdullah Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi detailed the country's international judicial framework during the 15th UN Crime Congress in Abu Dhabi. The UAE maintains more than 140 bilateral agreements across 53 countries and is a party to 16 multilateral conventions. Official figures show incoming mutual legal assistance requests grew by 244 percent between 2021 and 2025.

Abu Dhabi Hosts 15th UN Crime Prevention Congress and Adopts Declaration

The 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice opened on Saturday at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, running through 1 October. During the opening session, participants adopted the Abu Dhabi Declaration, establishing a five-year framework across four pillars including justice, rule of law, and emerging criminal threats. The agenda addresses critical compliance areas such as cybercrime, online fraud, money laundering, virtual assets, and artificial intelligence.
