The United Arab Emirates plans to invest between AED 150 billion and AED 200 billion in the energy sector by 2030 to address expanding demand and strengthen national infrastructure, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei stated during a ministerial panel at ADIPEC 2026.
Al Mazrouei noted that energy security has become a critical national priority amid geopolitical shifts and expanding electricity requirements driven by advanced manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and data centers. He stated that planned capital outlays will target power generation capacity, transmission networks, storage facilities, and integrated system operations.
The minister stated that clean energy accounted for 32.4% of the UAE's electricity generation in 2025, reflecting measurable progress toward the country's national target of 35% by 2031. He emphasized that the national strategy relies on a diversified mix comprising renewable energy, nuclear power, and natural gas.
Addressing system resilience, Al Mazrouei called for incorporating cybersecurity, physical protection, and climate resilience into energy planning. He also stressed the importance of developing domestic manufacturing capabilities, securing access to critical equipment, and fostering public-private partnerships across generation, storage, and consumption.
