Commercial delivery operators and riders in the UAE will face eight mandatory operational obligations beginning January 1, 2027, pursuant to Cabinet Decision No. 174 of 2026 implementing Federal Decree-Law No. 14 of 2024 on Traffic Regulation, Gulf News reported.

The new regulations prohibit delivery riders from transporting customer orders in backpacks, requiring the use of approved vehicle-mounted equipment instead. Furthermore, delivery motorcycles are strictly barred from carrying passengers behind the rider.

Under the decision, delivery personnel are also required to carry valid professional permits, wear official company uniforms, and remain logged into approved digital monitoring systems while operating delivery vehicles.
