Abdullah Sultan bin Awad Al Nuaimi, UAE Minister of Justice and President of the 15th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice – Abu Dhabi 2026, launched the “Guiding Principles for the Use of Artificial Intelligence Systems by Law Firms” initiative on the sidelines of the Congress. The launch took place in the presence of Maryam bint Ahmed Al Hammadi, Minister of State and Secretary-General of the UAE Cabinet.

The framework establishes ten core principles designed to guide the adoption and responsible deployment of artificial intelligence technologies by law firms operating in the UAE. According to the Ministry, the initiative aligns with the Abu Dhabi Declaration, international standards, and UAE domestic regulatory frameworks governing artificial intelligence.

Al Nuaimi emphasized that professional responsibility in legal work cannot be delegated, stating that people must remain at the center of justice. Under the newly issued principles, all outputs generated by AI systems must undergo human review, verification, and oversight, while safeguarding client confidentiality and procedural integrity.

UAE Clarifies In-Country Visa Extension Rules, Maximum Stay Caps and Associated Fees

The UAE permits eligible visitors to extend tourist and visit visas without leaving the country, subject to specific regulatory caps. Tourist visa holders can extend their stay up to a cumulative 120 days, while visas for family visits, job hunting, or business exploration are capped at 180 days. Extensions must be submitted through sponsors, and visitors who overstay without an extension incur a Dh50 daily penalty with no automatic grace period.
