The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) has launched the Financial Health Innovation Hackathon to source practical solutions that improve financial management for individuals and businesses, Gulf News reported. The initiative is being conducted in collaboration with the Alliance for Innovative Regulation (AIR), the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth, and the Emirates Institute of Finance.

Applications are open to organisations based in the UAE and internationally, with a submission deadline set for November 30, 2026. The programme targets solutions that are ready for implementation and can support financial well-being alongside the growth of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs).

The hackathon focuses on four core areas: managing day-to-day finances such as payments and cash flow, coping with financial shocks through emergency savings and insurance tools, achieving long-term goals including retirement and business growth, and making confident financial decisions through literacy and fraud prevention. Beneficiaries prioritised under the initiative include low-income earners, Emirati families, youth, People of Determination, women, investors, pensioners, and MSMEs.

To qualify, applicants must present solutions that have moved beyond the concept or prototype stage, align with at least one focus area, can be deployed and tested in the UAE, and comply with relevant data protection and cybersecurity standards. Following the submission deadline, application reviews, matching, and pilot designs will run from December 2026 to March 2027, followed by pilot implementation and outcome sharing from April to August 2027.
