UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Benin President Romuald Wadagni oversaw the exchange of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) on October 25, 2026, in Abu Dhabi.

According to UAE Minister of State for Foreign Trade Dr. Thani Al Zeyoudi, the agreement will eliminate or reduce tariffs on approximately 97 percent of bilateral product lines. The framework also targets regulatory obstacles across renewable energy, logistics, technology, and electronics.

Projections cited by the source indicate that non-oil exports from the UAE to Benin are expected to grow by more than $1 billion by 2033. In turn, shipments from Benin to the UAE are forecast to expand by over $100 million.

The bilateral pact is part of the UAE's broader foreign trade strategy aimed at securing commercial gateways into West African regional markets.
