Smart Mobility International (SMI) has commenced nationwide deliveries of the IM LS9 luxury six-seater SUV across the UAE to customers who had been on a waiting list for more than six months, Gulf News reported. Manufactured by China's SAIC Motor, the vehicle represents the premium brand's flagship entry into the UAE automotive market.
Fayha Al Malla, Vice President of SMI, stated that the 5.3-metre vehicle is equipped with a range-extended electric vehicle (REEV) powertrain producing 523 horsepower of continuous power, achieving acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds and providing more than 1,500 km of combined driving range.
The SUV features a four-wheel-steering system providing up to 24 degrees of rear-wheel steering to aid manoeuvrability, alongside suspension offering up to 20 cm of height adjustment for varied driving environments. Additional technical specifications include an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) supported by LiDAR, cameras, multiple sensors, and automated parking.
SMI also announced that a 5-metre, five-seat model designated the IM LS8 is slated for future release, featuring next-generation Super REEV technology delivering up to 1,605 km of combined range. SMI currently operates vehicle showrooms in Dubai on Sheikh Zayed Road and in Abu Dhabi on Yas Island.
