UAE Legal Rules on Debt Travel Bans and Bounced Cheques Explained
A UAE legal consultant has outlined the statutory framework governing civil and criminal travel bans across the country. Creditors can seek a civil travel ban for debts of at least Dh10,000 under Federal Decree-Law No. 42 of 2022, while unpaid cheques serve as directly enforceable execution instruments. Minor traffic violations do not automatically block departure unless escalated to civil court as unpaid debt.
