The Oman Investment Authority has signed a preliminary term sheet with China's Silk Road Fund to establish an $800 million joint investment fund. The signing took place during a state visit to Beijing by Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Dealroom reported.
The investment vehicle forms part of a broader 23-agreement package between the two nations. Financial partnerships in the package also include a $300 million fund split with China Merchants Bank and a $200 million commitment with IDG Capital.
In logistics and technology, Oman's Asyad Group agreed to develop three distribution warehouses in collaboration with JD.com. Additionally, telecommunications provider Omantel partnered with Huawei to work on artificial intelligence neural processing infrastructure.
The bilateral agreements also span manufacturing and natural resources. They include a $100 million solar manufacturing joint project involving BCG and Hoi Mills, as well as a 10-year, $418.7 million mining services contract awarded to Hongda International.
