Four Consortiums Including Chinese Contractors Bid for UAE $8 Billion Gas Plant

Four international consortiums, including Chinese engineering majors CPECC and Sinopec, are competing for the $8 billion EPC Package 1 tender for Abu Dhabi's Bab Gas Cap project. The planned facility in the Bab area is designed to process up to 1.85 billion cubic feet of additional raw gas daily. The technical bid deadline has been extended to November 16, 2026, while the development remains subject to a final investment decision.

Chinese Demand and Supply Constraints Cut Russian Crude Flows to Indian Refiners

Indian refiners anticipate tighter supplies of Russian crude in October and November 2026 as China steps up purchases and Russian export availability contracts. According to analytics firm Kpler, Russian crude arrivals in India are projected to decline to approximately 1.75 million barrels per day in September. As a result, Indian buyers are turning to alternative supplies, including UAE Murban crude, Iraqi Basrah, and Angolan barrels.
