First XPENG Flying Car for UAE Low-Altitude Zone Rolls Off Line

Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, visited XPENG AEROHT's mass-production plant in Guangzhou on October 20. Together with founder Zhao Deli, he unveiled and took delivery of the first 'Land Aircraft Carrier' (model X3-F) test unit for the UAE's low-altitude regulatory demonstration zone. The milestone advances a strategic cooperation agreement and regulatory sandbox initiative launched in September.

Abu Dhabi Approves Eight Sleep Smart Bed as Medical Device for Sleep Apnea

Eight Sleep announced that its smart bed technology has been approved as a medical device in Abu Dhabi to support the at-home diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea. The regulatory clearance follows a Health Technology Assessment conducted by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi. Physicians in the emirate can now prescribe the system to calculate Apnea-Hypopnea Index scores based on continuous at-home biometric monitoring.

UAE FTA Launches AI-Powered Digital Platform for Tourist VAT Refunds

The UAE Federal Tax Authority, in collaboration with Planet, has launched an artificial intelligence-powered digital platform for tourist Value Added Tax (VAT) refunds. Operational across major airports in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah, the paperless system uses facial recognition to process claims. The upgrade reduces tourist refund distribution times from roughly nine days to one business day.

Abu Dhabi DoH Introduces Regulatory Framework for AI Clinician Systems

The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi has published the AI Clinician Framework to regulate research and operational deployment of AI systems performing clinical activities. Announced at the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit, the model evaluates AI systems against specific clinical tasks while mandating physician oversight. The framework establishes baseline standards for future policies governing healthcare AI authorisation in the emirate.
