Chery Group reaffirmed its commitment to the FREELANDER brand during a global launch event held at Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental in Abu Dhabi. The Chinese automaker showcased the left-hand drive FREELANDER 8 to senior Abu Dhabi government officials and commercial partners. The Middle East serves as the strategic starting point for the brand's international rollout.
Chinese autonomous driving firms including WeRide, Baidu Apollo Go, and Momenta are accelerating commercial robotaxi deployments across Abu Dhabi and Dubai. These rollouts align with Dubai's 25 percent driverless trip target and follow a bilateral MoU signed by the UAE and China to expand cooperation in digital infrastructure, AI, and smart transportation. Official data also shows over 14,500 Chinese business licenses active in the UAE.
Dubai Chambers is preparing for the Dubai Business Forum – China on October 14 in Shenzhen, focusing on AI, electric vehicles, and digital logistics. Meanwhile, Abu Dhabi's Masdar City Free Zone opened its first China office in Suzhou, as Chinese direct investment in the UAE reached $12.47 billion.
Dubai Chambers has announced it will host the Dubai Business Forum – China in Shenzhen on October 14, 2026. The bilateral summit aims to expand cross-border investment and trade collaboration in sectors including artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, and the digital economy. Confirmed attendees include major Chinese enterprises such as Baidu, Tencent Cloud, Huawei Cloud, and China Merchants Capital.
