The U.S. Treasury Department has expanded Iran sanctions to encompass the automotive and railway sectors. Automotive brand FREELANDER, developed jointly by Jaguar Land Rover and China's Chery, held its global brand launch in Abu Dhabi on September 29, 2026. The event featured the debut of the left-hand drive FREELANDER 8 model, attended by senior UAE government and corporate officials. JLR leads vehicle design while Chery supplies engineering, intelligent technology, and supply chain backing.
The UAE has launched Altair-1, its first domestically manufactured commercial satellite, aboard a SpaceX rideshare mission from California. Assembled at Orbitworks' KEZAD facility in Abu Dhabi, the satellite is the first of a planned 10-satellite AI-enabled Earth observation constellation. The milestone aligns with the UAE's National Space Strategy 2031 and industrial manufacturing initiatives.
China's National Energy Administration released the China Hydrogen Energy Development Report (2026), detailing rapid expansion in renewable hydrogen capacity and transport infrastructure. The report projects that annual green hydrogen demand will reach 2.4 million to 4.3 million tons during the 2026–2030 period. Total industrial chain output value is forecast to exceed 1 trillion yuan ($139 billion).
