The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi is conducting its inaugural delegation to China from 21 to 30 September 2026 across Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Beijing. Led by Undersecretary Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, the mission aims to accelerate healthcare innovation and bilateral partnerships. The delegation also invited Chinese industry leaders to the Abu Dhabi Future Health Summit 2026.
Officials from Sharjah and the Chinese Consulate in Dubai met to discuss expanding cooperation in technology, advanced manufacturing, and healthcare. Discussions included a proposal to set up a Chinese cultural institute in Sharjah, backed by expanding economic ties that saw bilateral trade reach AED 6.3 billion in 2025.
The UAE has introduced rules designed to gradually reduce sodium, total sugars, and fats in selected packaged foods sold across retail shelves. The regulations apply to both locally produced and imported goods, including bread, dairy products, salty snacks, and processed cheese. Healthcare professionals highlighted that the population-level initiative aims to curb rates of obesity, hypertension, diabetes, and cardiovascular diseases.
A report by World Health Expo and Frost & Sullivan indicates that UAE national investments in genomics, artificial intelligence, and advanced manufacturing are transforming Middle Eastern biopharma. The regional precision medicine sector is forecast to expand by over 10 percent over the next five to seven years. Key initiatives include the Emirati Genome Program, Abu Dhabi's AED 42 billion HELM cluster, and the 2025 launch of Mubadala Bio.
