Google Updates UAE Advertising Rules for Crypto, CFDs, and Forex

Google is updating its financial advertising policy for campaigns targeting users in the United Arab Emirates starting 21 October. Advertisers promoting crypto exchanges, software wallets, contracts for difference, and rolling spot forex must hold recognised UAE regulatory licences and obtain separate Google certification. The update broadens recognised crypto regulators to include the Capital Market Authority and Dubai Financial Services Authority, while updating forex rules to reflect the Capital Market Authority as successor to the Securities and Commodities Authority.

Starting 21 October, Google will enforce updated licensing requirements for advertisements targeting users in the United Arab Emirates across four categories: cryptocurrency exchanges, software wallets, contracts for difference (CFDs), and rolling spot foreign exchange, according to a report published by TradingView.

Under the updated rules, crypto exchanges and software-wallet providers targeting UAE users can qualify to run ads if they hold an appropriate licence from one of four regulators: the Capital Market Authority (CMA), the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA), the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FSRA), or the Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (VARA). Previously, Google's policy had permitted ads since February 2025 but was limited to entities holding a VARA licence or an FSRA licence specifically to operate a multilateral trading facility.

For CFD and rolling spot forex advertising, Google accepts licences issued by the CMA, DFSA, and FSRA. The update replaces the Securities and Commodities Authority (SCA) with the CMA, which became the legal successor to the SCA in January 2026.

In all categories, advertisers must secure Google certification through their Google Ads accounts and comply with local laws. The policy applies to any advertising campaigns targeting UAE users regardless of where the advertising company is based, meaning corporate groups must hold service-specific licences for the exact operating entities running the campaigns.
