Artificial intelligence, intelligence-led policing, and the fight against money laundering formed the focus of a preparatory dialogue for the World Police Summit held on Friday at the Dubai Police Officers' Club, Gulf News reported. Titled 'Technology and Intelligence in Modern Policing: AI, Innovation and Anti-Money Laundering', the session explored how emerging technologies can detect illicit financial networks, transform criminal investigations, and improve cross-border cooperation.
The preparatory event brought together ambassadors, consuls-general, and consular officials from 13 countries, including China, Albania, Belarus, the Czech Republic, El Salvador, India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Sweden, and Tajikistan. Senior law enforcement representatives from the United States and the United Kingdom also attended alongside UAE officials and technology executives.
Colonel Dr Rashid Hamdan Al Ghafri, Secretary-General of the World Police Summit and Deputy Director of Dubai Police's General Department of Forensics and Criminology for Administrative Affairs, stated that more than 90 countries are expected to participate in the full summit in November. The event is set to host over 220 leaders from law enforcement, academia, and the private sector, along with approximately 150 technology exhibitors.
Technology providers at the session highlighted practical applications for financial compliance and investigations. Dr Adel Alsharji, Chief Operating Officer of Presight, noted that the company applies AI and agentic capabilities to analyze complex data and help law enforcement identify illicit transaction patterns earlier. The fifth edition of the summit is scheduled for November 16–18 at the Dubai World Trade Centre under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.
