The Dubai Police has officially integrated the BYD Yangwang U8 luxury plug-in hybrid SUV into its luxury tourist patrol fleet, according to Paul Tan's Automotive News. The vehicle was handed over by BYD's UAE distributor, Al-Futtaim Automotive Group, following an appearance at the WETEX exhibition in Dubai.

Brigadier Saeed Al Hajri stated that the SUV will be stationed across key visitor destinations, including the Burj Khalifa and Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), with the aim of supporting public engagement and tourist services.

The Yangwang U8 is powered by four electric motors delivering 1,196 horsepower and features a 49.05-kWh Blade battery. Technical capabilities include amphibious floating and tank-turn functionality.

The deployment illustrates the expanding commercial adoption of Chinese high-tech new-energy vehicles across public fleets in the United Arab Emirates.
