The third edition of the Foreseeing Government Audit Future Conference opened in Dubai at the Joharah Ballroom in Madinat Jumeirah, according to the Emirates News Agency (WAM). Organised by Dubai's Financial Audit Authority (FAA) under the theme 'Smart Audit', the event brought together government officials, auditors, and specialists in cybersecurity and artificial intelligence.
Discussions focused on the changing scope of government auditing, including evaluating risks from emerging technologies, examining AI system governance, and assessing digital decision-making reliability. The conference also reviewed how advanced analytics and AI tools can improve audit efficiency and risk identification.
In his opening address, Abdulrahman Al Hareb, Director General of the FAA, stated that rapid public-sector transformations require an oversight framework capable of keeping pace with innovation while safeguarding public funds. He noted that audit functions are progressing beyond traditional compliance and verification toward proactive risk anticipation.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Dr. Mohamed Hamad Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cyber Security for the UAE Government, emphasised the role of AI in protecting financial oversight systems from cyber threats. He explained that deploying AI and data analysis enables continuous oversight of financial transactions, assisting authorities in detecting irregular activities linked to fraud, money laundering, and financial crime.
