Dubai Municipality has awarded four contracts totaling AED 3 billion (approximately $817 million) under Phase 3 of the Tasreef Programme to expand and reinforce the emirate's stormwater drainage network.
The approved projects include the construction and extension of approximately 100 kilometres of main drainage pipes, with diameters reaching up to three metres. The network will cover nearly 100 square kilometres across 11 major areas, including Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim, Al Safa, Al Manara, Al Quoz, Al Barsha, Al Wasl, Za'abeel, Al Bada'a, Al Satwa, and Al Marmoom, connecting them directly into the municipality's primary drainage grid.
The contracts form part of Dubai's overarching AED 30 billion Tasreef Programme, an infrastructure initiative designed to boost overall stormwater handling capacity by 700 percent while lowering operational and maintenance costs by 20 percent.
Industry project reports state that the contract packages have been awarded to China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) and three local UAE contractors: Arifco Group, Nael Construction & Contracting (NCC), and Detech Contracting.
