Dubai Municipality has awarded contracts valued at Dh3 billion ($817 million) to construct 100 kilometres of stormwater drainage infrastructure, according to Gulf News.
China State Construction Engineering Corporation is among the selected contractors for the project, working alongside DeTech Contracting and specialised engineering firms.
The Phase 2 expansion covers 30 key districts across an area of 430 million square metres. The infrastructure is projected to serve three million residents by 2040.
The project includes the construction of a deep tunnel measuring up to four metres in diameter, designed to connect communities along Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. The initiative supports Dubai's long-term infrastructure resilience objectives under the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.
