Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, approved the strategy and operating budget of the Dubai Longevity Authority (DLA) following its inaugural board meeting, Gulf Today reported. Operating under Sheikh Hamdan's presidency, the approval transitions the DLA from its establishment phase into active implementation.
The approved strategy targets an annual growth rate of approximately 31 percent and is projected to contribute more than Dh35 billion ($9.53 billion) to Dubai's economy over the next 10 years. The initiative aligns with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) and the Dubai Social Agenda 33, aiming to position the emirate as an international centre for healthy ageing, life sciences, and biotechnology.
Established under Law No. (17) of 2026, the DLA serves as a dedicated regulator for the Longevity, Wellness and Advanced Health (LWAH) sector. Its regulatory mandate spans the full sector value chain, covering research and development, clinical trials, manufacturing, delivery, and specialised clinics.
According to the report, the inaugural board meeting was chaired by Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, alongside Vice Chairman Omar Sultan Al Olama and other board members. Since its creation in June, the DLA has developed a governance model and a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) programme to allow selected innovators to test, develop, and scale therapies within a supervised environment.
