Alibaba Plans UAE Data Centre Expansion Over Next 12 Months

Chinese technology firm Alibaba announced plans to enlarge its data centre facilities in the United Arab Emirates alongside several other international markets over the next 12 months. The expansion is part of a plan to surpass 20 gigawatts of global data centre capacity by 2032 to support artificial intelligence workloads. The company also introduced a new AI chip called Zhenwu V900.

Chinese technology group Alibaba announced on September 23, 2026, plans to expand its international cloud computing and data centre operations across the Middle East and Europe.

Over the next 12 months, the company plans to enlarge its existing data centre facilities in the United Arab Emirates, Germany, France, Malaysia, and Hong Kong. Additionally, Alibaba announced it will set up new cloud regions in Turkey, Finland, and the Netherlands.

According to Alibaba, the infrastructure additions support its target to achieve more than 20 gigawatts of global data centre capacity by 2032 to address demand for artificial intelligence workloads. Alongside the infrastructure plans, the company unveiled its Zhenwu V900 AI chip, which it stated offers three times the performance of its prior model.
