Sharjah Book Authority and Chinese Delegation Discuss Educational Publishing and Rights Exchange

The Sharjah Book Authority (SBA) hosted an official delegation comprising 13 representatives and specialists from six major Chinese publishing and education enterprises, according to Emirates News Agency (WAM).

Discussions were led by SBA Chief Executive Officer Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, focusing on expanding rights exchanges and educational distribution networks between China and the Middle East.

The talks explored mechanisms to increase the presence of Chinese educational publishers at the upcoming Sharjah International Book Fair. Additionally, Sharjah Publishing City highlighted its commercial and regulatory infrastructure designed to assist international publishing companies in establishing regional headquarters.

Both parties agreed to set up direct institutional communication channels to support ongoing copyright trading and the distribution of translated content.

UAE Approves Accession to Singapore Convention on Mediated Settlements Under Federal Decree

The UAE has issued Federal Decree No. 85 of 2026 approving accession to the United Nations Singapore Convention on Mediation. The convention allows cross-border commercial mediated settlement agreements to be recognized and enforced directly by domestic courts. It enters into force six months after the accession instrument is deposited with the UN, subject to two reservations adopted by the UAE.
