Alibaba Cloud to Expand Data Centre Presence in UAE and Globally

Alibaba Cloud announced plans to expand its data centre footprint in the UAE, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Germany, and France over the next 12 months. The expansion supports the company's target of exceeding 20 gigawatts of international capacity by 2032 to meet artificial intelligence computing demand. Alibaba Cloud also introduced three international enterprise AI suites and revealed partnerships with several corporate clients.

Alibaba Cloud announced an international infrastructure and services expansion during its 2026 Apsara Conference to scale up global artificial intelligence capabilities, according to Telecompaper. Over the next 12 months, the Chinese cloud provider plans to expand its data centre presence in the UAE alongside Hong Kong, Malaysia, Germany, and France, while opening new cloud regions in Turkey, Finland, and the Netherlands.

The infrastructure buildup supports Alibaba's broader target of surpassing 20 gigawatts of international data centre capacity by 2032 to manage escalating AI computing demand. Alibaba Cloud currently operates 107 availability zones spanning 31 global regions.

In addition to hardware expansion, the company launched three international enterprise AI suites—Smart Studio, Smart Fusion, and Smart Video—to facilitate corporate deployment of large models. Alibaba Cloud also announced collaborations involving its cloud and AI technologies with Panasonic Digital, Unity China, Lion Parcel, Loomi Entertainment Group, Shake, and AnyMind Group.
