The Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development has announced a regulatory and operational initiative designed to shorten the timeframe between an investment decision and actual business commencement.
Department Chairman Ahmed Jasim Al Zaabi stated that the strategy targets streamlined administrative requirements, fast-tracked governmental approvals, and improved cross-entity coordination. The reforms build on previous initiatives that reduced requirements for starting commercial activities by 71 percent through the TAMM digital platform.
According to official figures, non-oil economic activity accounted for 54.7 percent of the emirate's gross domestic product in 2024. New economic licences issued in Abu Dhabi rose by 21 percent in the first quarter of 2026, following a 29 percent expansion recorded in 2025.
