Abu Dhabi Introduces 65 Mandatory Hospitality Standards for Hotels Effective Early 2027

The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi introduced the Emirati Hospitality Standards on September 25, 2026. The framework establishes 65 measurable operating rules designed for local hospitality businesses, developed in collaboration with the National Projects Office.

The regulations will become mandatory across hotels and serviced apartments beginning in early 2027. The standards govern eight distinct stages of guest service to ensure cultural heritage compliance across Abu Dhabi's commercial tourism sector.

Under the framework, hospitality establishments must provide cultural guidelines to visitors prior to arrival and assign reception personnel who wear Emirati national dress. In addition, guest-facing and dining staff must receive training to explain at least three traditional local dishes, such as harees and balaleet.
