Twenty alumni and fellows of the UAE National Experts Program (NEP) will mentor young Emiratis participating in the UAE Youth Ambassadors Program (YAP) in China and Japan, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported. Over a ten-month mentorship journey, the initiative aims to facilitate knowledge transfer from established professionals to emerging Emirati talent.
According to Hend Al Mheiri, Director of NEP Alumni, the collaboration brings together the experience of established leaders and the energy of youth to prepare future leaders. Nawal Almarzooqi, Director of the UAE Youth Ambassadors Program, stated that the mentorship provides participants with opportunities to acquire expertise, broaden perspectives, and translate their experiences into projects aligned with UAE national priorities.
The initiative features seven NEP Fellows: Meera AlMheiri (policy and government services), Ali Alshimmari (energy and renewables), Dr. Mohamed AlAmeri (health and well-being), Sumaya Al Hajeri (public policy and governance), Faisal Al Hawi (technology and innovation), Dr. Mohammad AlShamsi (security), and Mariam Almeraikhi (media and creative industries).
Participating NEP alumni also include specialists across diverse disciplines, including Asma Al Azri in community development, Dr. Asma Fikri in advanced sciences, Hassan Alnoon in technology, Abdulla Alshehhi in space, Dr. Faisal AlMarzooqi in water innovation, Khaled Al Remeithi and Chaltham Ali in education, Saood Al Noori in energy, Abdulla Al Haidan and Major Eng. Mohamed Zainal in mobility and logistics, Maitha Alkaabi in foreign affairs, Dr. Mohammad Alsharid in prompt engineering and AI co-design, and Marwah Fadhel in media.
WAM reported that the programme will cultivate participants' critical thinking, research, and communication skills, while deepening their cross-cultural understanding through their overseas postings in China and Japan.
