Artificial intelligence could help Arab governments strengthen tax collection and improve the efficiency of public finances, but sound governance is essential for its implementation, according to the Arab Monetary Fund (AMF).
The assessment was delivered in Abu Dhabi during the 17th Ordinary Session of the Council of Arab Finance Ministers, which coincided with the AMF's Golden Jubilee anniversary. The fund delivered specialized presentations assessing fiscal conditions across member states and outlining practical applications for artificial intelligence within tax administration and fiscal policy.
Discussions among participating Arab finance ministers and regional officials focused on the management of public finances, the deployment of emerging digital tools to administer revenue systems, and macroeconomic resilience amid geopolitical uncertainty.
During the meetings, UAE Minister of State for Financial Affairs Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini highlighted domestic digital transformation initiatives, noting the UAE federal government's drive to transition 50 percent of federal operations and services into agentic AI models within two years.
