GT LINES Upgrades KCX1 China–UAE Shipping Service with Five-Vessel Consortium

Gulftainer subsidiary GT LINES has upgraded its Khorfakkan China Express (KCX1) service through a four-partner consortium to boost maritime capacity between China and the UAE. The five-vessel operation introduces a regular 10-day sailing frequency calling at Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Nansha, and Khorfakkan. Cargo arriving in Khorfakkan links to Gulftainer's inland infrastructure and regional feeder network serving the GCC and Iraq.

Gulftainer's shipping arm GT LINES has enhanced its KCX1 (Khorfakkan China Express) container shipping service by forming a five-vessel consortium with three partners: Zhong Gu, Sea Legend, and Ningbo Ocean. Effective November 2, 2026, GT LINES deploys two container vessels while each partner provides one, establishing a fixed 10-day sailing frequency between China and the UAE.

The service rotation directly links four major Chinese ports—Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, and Nansha—with the port of Khorfakkan in Sharjah. Transit times offered by the carrier include 18 days from Nansha and South China to Khorfakkan, and 22 to 24 days from Central China and Shanghai. The carrier stated that the upgrade incorporates dedicated berthing priorities and improved cargo planning to ensure schedule reliability.

Beyond direct maritime transit, the KCX1 service connects with Gulftainer's inland logistics infrastructure in the UAE. Containers discharged at Khorfakkan can be transferred to the Sharjah Dry Port in Saja'a, where cargo owners receive 12 days of free storage. Gulftainer's trucking arm, Momentum Logistics, manages overland transfers across the UAE and facilitates intermodal connections.

The service also integrates with GULF CONNECT, GT LINES' intra-Gulf feeder network, providing onward links to Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Iraq. For Iraq-bound cargo, shipments connect to Umm Qasr via the Iraq Container Terminal (ICT), which is operated by Gulftainer Group.
