UAE Clarifies Residency Rules for Dependants Following Golden Visa Holder’s Death

The UAE Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security confirmed that dependants sponsored by a primary Golden Visa holder are not required to leave the country immediately upon the holder's death. Sponsored family members may legally remain in the UAE until their valid residency permits expire. The 10-year Golden Visa permits holders to sponsor spouses, domestic workers, and children of any age.

The UAE Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) has issued a clarification regarding the residency status of sponsored dependants following the death of a primary Golden Visa holder.

According to the authority, the death of the primary visa holder does not require sponsored family members to leave the UAE immediately. Dependants residing under a sponsored Golden Visa permit remain legally authorized to stay in the country until their valid residency term expires.

The UAE Golden Visa provides a renewable 10-year residency for qualifying investors, entrepreneurs, and specialised talents without requiring an employer sponsor.

Under existing regulations, primary Golden Visa holders are permitted to sponsor spouses, domestic staff, and children regardless of age.
