Gulf states including Oman and Saudi Arabia are intensifying their diplomatic outreach to Beijing as US President Donald Trump approaches a lame-duck session, according to an analysis by Al-Monitor.

The publication reported that the outcome of the US midterm elections has introduced new uncertainty over Washington's Iran policy, while the regional conflict involving Iran continues without a clear resolution.

Al-Monitor highlighted growing high-level engagement between China and Gulf leadership, including a recent historic visit to Beijing by Oman's Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, who held official talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
