Fujian Province and Ras Al Khaimah (RAK), one of the seven emirates of the United Arab Emirates, signed an agreement to establish friendly provincial-level relations on October 22 in Fuzhou, Fujian province.

The signing took place following discussions between Zhao Long, secretary of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee, and Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, member of the UAE Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah. Senior Fujian government officials Wu Xielin and Zhao Zenglian also attended the proceedings.

Zhao outlined Fujian's economic and social development, calling for expanded cooperation between the two sides in technology, trade and investment, culture and education, and people-to-people exchanges. He stated that Fujian would continue deepening reforms and widening opening-up to foster steady China-UAE relations.
