Chinese automaker BYD is preparing to unveil its upcoming flagship electric sedan under its ultra-luxury brand Yangwang in the United Arab Emirates rather than in China, Electrek reported. Yangwang general manager Hu Xiaoqing confirmed that the global debut will take place in the UAE, with the unveiling expected around November 5.
The executive-class electric sedan will be BYD's largest and most luxurious passenger car to date. Prototype images released by Hu show a disguised vehicle measuring roughly 5,500 millimeters in length, comparable in profile and footprint to a Mercedes-Benz Maybach S-Class or Rolls-Royce Phantom.
According to industry reports cited by Electrek, the sedan could introduce two major company firsts: rear-hinged Rolls-Royce-style coach doors and solid-state battery technology, though BYD has not officially confirmed the battery specifications. Unofficial pricing estimates suggest the model could start in the 2 million yuan range, or about $300,000.
Yangwang represents the top tier of BYD's brand structure, which also includes Denza, FangChengBao, and the Dynasty and Ocean series. The brand's existing lineup includes the U7 electric sedan starting at 658,000 yuan ($98,000), the U9 electric super-coupe, and the U8 plug-in hybrid SUV, alongside an extended U8L variant starting at 1.45 million yuan ($217,000).
