Chinese automaker Chery Group is accelerating its global manufacturing presence, targeting 70% of its international export volume to be produced outside China by 2030, Drive Arabia reported. Speaking at the company's headquarters in Wuhu, China, on October 23, 2026, Executive Vice President Zhang Guibing stated that overseas-manufactured vehicles currently represent roughly 48% of export volume and are projected to surpass 50% by the end of 2026, before reaching 60% in 2027.
The strategic shift focuses on expanding regional assembly partnerships rather than relying solely on shipping finished vehicles from Chinese factories. In the first nine months of 2026, Chery exported more than 1.55 million vehicles globally, exceeding its entire export volume for 2025. The group's portfolio includes Chery, Jetour, Exeed, Omoda, Jaecoo, Lepas, and iCAUR.
In the Middle East and North Africa, Egypt serves as an active manufacturing base for Chery through an assembly partnership with GB Auto, which launched the locally assembled Chery Tiggo 7 Pro in August 2026. However, Drive Arabia noted that Chery has not confirmed plans for vehicle assembly facilities in the United Arab Emirates or Saudi Arabia, nor specified which brands will be included in regional production expansions.
