New spy photos published by Chinese automotive outlet Autohome have revealed the front-end design of BYD Yangwang's upcoming flagship sedan, internally codenamed HU, ahead of its planned debut in the United Arab Emirates. Yangwang Sales Division General Manager Hu Xiaoqing confirmed the UAE appearance on October 21, though the automaker has not yet announced a specific date or venue for the event.
The spy images show an upright front fascia with a tall, rectangular grille flanked by vertically arranged split headlamps, departing from the sweeping front design seen on the Yangwang U7 and adopting styling cues reminiscent of the U8 and U8L SUVs. The photographed prototype also features a roof-mounted LiDAR unit above the windshield, alongside a long body profile, a short front overhang, an extended rear section, and rear-hinged coach doors. Earlier media estimates put the sedan's length at approximately 5,500 mm.
BYD has not yet officially confirmed the HU's motor configuration, power output, suspension specification, or curb weight, although the Yangwang brand's existing U8, U9, and U7 models employ BYD's e⁴ quad-motor architecture and DiSus active suspension systems. Official teaser images released on September 23 previously previewed the sedan's silhouette and coach-door layout.
Chinese media reports have estimated an expected retail price above 2,000,000 yuan (approximately 299,600 USD), though BYD has not released official pricing. Media reports have also speculated about solid-state battery integration, but Yangwang has not disclosed battery chemistry or production specifications. In September, BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li stated that the company plans to put a vehicle featuring solid-state battery technology on the road in 2027, while FinDreams Battery CTO Sun Huajun outlined roadmaps targeting trial runs around 2027 and mass commercial production around 2030.
