Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, stated in an excerpt from his book that public trust is the decisive resource for future economic stability and prosperity, according to Gulf News. Sheikh Mohammed noted that while discussions often prioritize water, artificial intelligence, energy, or data, trust remains the underlying foundation.
According to Sheikh Mohammed, trust is established across decades through stable legislation, respect for people, and the legitimacy gained from delivering measurable results. He explained that this process generates a reserve of public credibility that governments rely on during crises, maintaining long-term confidence.
Sheikh Mohammed added that investor confidence and incoming technology talent depend directly on trust in the country. He emphasized that trust facilitates global partnerships in energy and attracts advanced investments in critical sectors, including water technology.
Gulf News reported that Sheikh Mohammed cited research from Edelman showing that global trust in government stood at 53 percent, while the UAE ranked first in the Edelman Trust Barometer in 2026.
