Chinese Storage Suppliers Secure Multi-Gigawatt Battery Contracts in UAE Renewable Project

Chinese energy storage suppliers disclosed approximately 94GWh in battery system orders during Q3 2026, driven significantly by projects in the UAE. BYD and Sungrow secured contracts totaling 18.775GWh for Abu Dhabi renewable energy firm Masdar's Round-the-Clock initiative.

Chinese energy storage suppliers disclosed approximately 94GWh in battery system orders during the third quarter of 2026, with overseas contracts accounting for 93% of the signed volumes, according to 36Kr.

The volume was accelerated by clean energy project awards in the United Arab Emirates. Abu Dhabi renewable energy company Masdar awarded an 11.275GWh equipment supply contract to BYD for its gigascale Round-the-Clock (RTC) project.

Chinese supplier Sungrow also secured a 7.5GWh energy storage order to provide equipment for the same UAE initiative.

In total, the Middle East accounted for 21.3GWh, representing 28.7% of the total overseas storage capacity awarded to Chinese vendors during the quarter.
