Chinese autonomous driving technology company Westwell has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) to advance autonomous industrial transport solutions, Port Technology reported.

Under the agreement, signed on 30 October 2026 in Ras Al Khaimah, Westwell becomes an industry partner in the RAKTA Autonomous Vehicle Sandbox (RAKTA AV Sandbox) and the programme's first partner for autonomous terminal trucks. The document was signed by Kenny Tan, Founder and Chairman of Westwell, and H.E. Eng. Esmaeel Hasan Al Blooshi, Director General of RAKTA.

The two parties will collaborate on technological innovation, testing and validation, and future commercial applications of autonomous industrial transport solutions. The signing took place during a RAKTA event launching the emirate's Framework for Autonomous Mobility and introducing the Autonomous Vehicle Testing Zone Initiative.

Westwell showcased its Q-Truck autonomous vehicle at the event, where H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, UAE Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, visited the exhibition area and met with Tan. The exchange was also attended by Chinese Ambassador to the UAE H.E. Zeng Jixin and Consul General in Dubai and the Northern Emirates H.E. Ou Boqian.
