Abu Dhabi-based Mubadala Energy aims to double its energy production over the next decade, with natural gas making up about 70 percent of its overall portfolio, according to statements made by Acting Chief Executive Officer Adnan Bu Fateem to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of ADIPEC 2026.
Bu Fateem stated that the company's objective is to translate its corporate strategy into disciplined expansion and operational reliability to address rising energy demand. Mubadala Energy is actively exploring investment opportunities across the natural gas value chain to connect gas supplies with long-term consumption markets.
The company currently operates across 10 countries, holding seven producing assets located in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, the Eastern Mediterranean, and the United States. In Southeast Asia, Mubadala Energy operates Malaysia's Pegaga gas field, where capacity was recently expanded, and is progressing the Tangkulo development in Indonesia, where its Layaran and Tangkulo discoveries in South Andaman contain more than 8 trillion cubic feet of gas resources.
In the United States, Mubadala Energy's investment in Caturus LLC covers gas production in the Haynesville Basin and the Commonwealth LNG project, which attained a Final Investment Decision in May 2026 with an initial planned capacity of 9.5 million tonnes per year and plans to expand to 16 million tonnes annually. In Egypt, the company recently acquired a 15 percent stake in the Nargis Offshore Area, adding to its existing holdings in the Zohr and Nour concessions.
Regarding environmental targets, Bu Fateem noted that Mubadala Energy is implementing an approach centred on enhancing asset performance and adopting technologies to increase operational efficiency.
