UAE-based marine engineering firm NMDC Group officially accepted the delivery and held an inauguration ceremony for its new heavy-duty cutter suction dredger, Abu Al Bakhoush, in Nantong, China, according to Baird Maritime.

The self-propelled vessel was built by Chinese shipbuilder Jiangsu Haixin Shipping Heavy Industry. It measures 148 metres in length and features a dredging capability reaching depths of up to 38 metres.

Equipped with a 7.8 MW cutter, the dredger delivers a total installed power output of 30,040 kW. NMDC stated that its technical design enables rock cutting as well as accurate excavation of trenches, navigation channels, and harbours.

The delivery expands NMDC's operational fleet beyond 170 vessels, which the group noted will strengthen its capacity to execute large-scale port, coastal development, and reclamation projects globally.
